Job Title: CEMETERY SEXTON
Supervisor: BOARD OF SELECTMEN
The Cemetery Sexton is responsible for supervision of general cemetery operations. Work is mostly administrative. The Sexton is appointed by and is responsible to the Board of Selectmen.
TYPICAL DUTIES (but not limited to)
Supervises cemetery groundskeeper and office staff.
Oversees record keeping details related to burials, sale of lots, layout of graves on maps and other administrative details.

- Keeps track of billing and cemetery permits.
- Prepares budget, codes bills and submits for payment.
- Enforces cemetery regulation.
- Works with and supervises contractors for major repair jobs and expansion.
- Other as directed or required by the Board of Selectmen.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWILEDGIE AND ABILITIES
Good knowledge of cemetery operations and maintenance techniques. Thorough knowledge of layout of cemetery and location of graves. Good physical condition.

- Be a high school graduate or have passed a high school equivalency exam.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
- Applicants must be able to perform the essential job functions.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment physical and substance abuse test.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Completion of a standard high school course.
