Now Hiring: Full-Time Police Sergeant & Patrol Officers

The East Millinocket Police Department (EMPD) is expanding its coverage area and has immediate openings for highly motivated, community oriented full-time Police Officers.  The openings include:

(1) Full-Time Police Sergeant; and

(3) Full-Time Patrol Officers

Applicants shall be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Maine driver’s license.  Candidates that are not full-time certified must have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test, Physical Agility Test and Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the Pre-Service Course. Preference will be given to graduates of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLETP).

Candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation, polygraph, psychological testing and a medical exam.

EMPD is a growing, community oriented police department that provides 24-hour coverage to the Towns of East Millinocket, Millinocket and Medway.  EMPD is responsible to serve a combined population of approximately 7500 annual residents and patrol 68 square miles of roadway answering in excess of 10,000 calls for service a year.  The Katahdin Region also sees a swell in population from tourists and recreation visitors taking advantage of all that the region has to offer.

The Katahdin Region offers great recreational opportunities that include hiking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and ATV trails.  It is the gateway to Mount Katahdin, which was voted as the World’s Best Hike by National Geographic, and is home to the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.  The Katahdin Region offers endless 4-season recreational opportunities with its vicinity to the North Maine Woods, the West Branch of the Penobscot River, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument and a vast network of lakes and trail systems.
